Small, sheltered cove below the cliffs at St Heliers in eastern Auckland, for decades one of the city's most popular clothing-optional beaches. A council viewing platform overlooks the bay, so expect passers-by. New Zealand has no official nude beaches: the law targets obscene exposure and offensive behaviour, and courts have held that simple nudity on a beach where it is known to occur is not offensive. Be discreet and considerate.
