Breaker Bay

Nude Beach in Wellington, New Zealand

Sheltered bay at the harbour entrance on the Miramar Peninsula, Wellington, the region's most popular clothing-optional beach, shared by naturists and clothed visitors. Families stay near the road end; naturists use the stretch from the hole in the rock (about 100 m from the car park) out to the point. Car park at the south end of the Pass of Branda in Seatoun, also reachable by bus; no toilets. Little penguins nest along this coast. New Zealand has no official nude beaches: the law targets obscene exposure and offensive behaviour, and courts have held that simple nudity on a beach where it is known to occur is not offensive. Be discreet and considerate.
