Long sandy surf beach south-east of Hastings. The main nude area is about 400 m north of the surf lifesaving club at the end of the road down from the lookout. Busy with clothed visitors and 4WDs in the main holidays, but nude use on hot days is accepted. New Zealand has no official nude beaches: the law targets obscene exposure and offensive behaviour, and courts have held that simple nudity on a beach where it is known to occur is not offensive. Be discreet and considerate.
