One of the most beautiful beaches on Martha's Vineyard: wide sand below tall clay cliffs and sculpted boulders on the island's south shore. Nude sunbathing has long been accepted on the part of the beach away from the entrance; it is a local tradition rather than an official designation, so keep to the established area. From late June to early September the beach is for Chilmark residents and their guests only; in spring and autumn it is open to everyone and often almost empty. The surf can be strong and there is no food on site.
