Peka Peka Beach (north end)

Long, wild beach backed by dunes on the Kāpiti Coast, with views to Kapiti Island; the first beach north of Wellington where skinny-dipping is known to occur. The stretch most used is the north end, reached from the end of Te Hapua Road about 5 km north of Waikanae. Free Beaches NZ's Wellington members meet here on the second Sunday of the month in summer. Bring shade and water; there are no facilities. New Zealand has no official nude beaches: the law targets obscene exposure and offensive behaviour, and courts have held that simple nudity on a beach where it is known to occur is not offensive. Be discreet and considerate.
